Residency

HISTORY
Launched in 2023 with the support of its historic partner Leica, INSTANTS is an artistic adventure through which Château Palmer is affirming its support for contemporary photographic creation. This annual residency, organised into several creative periods, offers the guest photographer total carte blanche to produce a personal artistic work, freely inspired by the ecosystem of Château Palmer, the vision and values of the estate, as well as its terroir and enlarged territory.

2023 - 2025
For the 2023 - 2025 editions of the program, the artists were selected by the INSTANTS artistic committee, comprising representatives from Château Palmer, Leica Camera France, and Filigranes Éditions, based on a preselection put forward by the Art Photo Projects agency.

As an avant-garde grand cru classé in its field, Château Palmer has built its reputation on the quality of its wines and its pioneering winemaking choices. It is also renowned for its creativity, developed through ambitious artistic collaborations in the worlds of jazz and photography.
Through the INSTANTS residency, Château Palmer is now expanding the scope of its activity and is committing to taking the work of photographers, whose sensibilities and values it shares, as far as possible. Through several periods of research and creation in situ, set amongst nature, the teams, the vines, and the flow of the estuary, total carte blanche is given to singular artistic experiments, both free and grounded in the vineyard.

Leica Camera France is a subsidiary of the Leica Camera AG group, est. 1869, a German manufacturer of premium cameras and observation equipment with a global reach. Leica’s legendary reputation is rooted in a long tradition of excellence and the fame of countless photographers who have championed the brand since 1925. Leica Camera France is a privileged partner of the INSTANTS residency at Château Palmer, providing resident artists with its iconic cameras and lenses, offering uncompromising image quality.

Art Photo Projects advises and guides institutions and businesses in the artistic direction, production and communication of their cultural projects. Driven by their passion for and involvement in photography for the last 35 years, Fany Dupêchez, Artistic Director, and Pascal Michaut, Project Director, monitor and supervise the INSTANTS residency and its guest artists, overseeing curation, exhibitions and overall communication of the project.

Founded in 2011, the gallery Clémentine de la Féronnière and Maison CF publishing house were created with the aim to support the work of its photographers on a long-term basis. Based on the Île-Saint-Louis in central Paris, the gallery represents James Barnor, Martin Parr, FLORE, Peter Mitchell, Juliette Agnel and Guillaume Zuili, among others, and works actively with museums in France and abroad to acquire and exhibit the works of its artists. From spring 2026, the Clémentine de la Féronnière gallery will be previewing images from the INSTANTS residency at Château Palmer.
